Daryl Talks Games was right when he theorized that one of the ways Dark Souls games save us is by teaching us self-efficacy through showing us that no matter how big and horrifying and scary the monsters out there are we can still overcome them, but I think maybe they also save us by challenging that part of depression that makes us self-isolate through their constant, almost unavoidable reminders that we are not alone and spirited insistence that we ask for help when we need it, which is just as important.
Soulsborne games teach us that we can fight the monsters, and we don't have to do it alone.
not me getting teary-eyed at four in the morning about how at their core soulsborne games really are meant to be a cooperative experience that constantly drive home how even when things seem hopeless and terrifying you are never truly alone.....and in fact it's in your darkest moments that you should reach out for help, because chances are there will be someone there ready to do what they can.......ough the inherent selfless love at the core of humanity that refuses to stop shining even in the darkest depths of despair...........the reminder that even when you're suffering there are people in the darkness with you and that you should never be afraid to reach out to them for help..............that sometimes we truly can't fight the shadows on our own but that's okay because we don't have to........and the reminder that when we can we should turn around and offer that same help to others........
